The sequence is consistent enough to navigate, while the exact documents, questions, dates, and selection criteria remain specific to the active program.

Choose the program

Start with the academic offering itself. Review its subject, audience, duration, format, learning model, credential information, and current availability before thinking about forms or documents.

Identify the admissions model

Confirm whether the offering uses Open Admissions, Selective Admissions, or a program-specific or partnership enrollment process. The model determines what happens next.

Review the active requirements

Use the current program or cohort instructions to identify the information actually required. SJIT does not assume that every offering needs the same checklist.

Follow the correct entry path

Selective programs require an application for review. Open Admissions programs skip the SJIT application and send eligible students directly to the external enrollment checkout for that offering.

Receive the outcome

Selective applicants receive an admission decision according to the program timeline. Open Admissions students do not wait for an admission decision; enrollment proceeds through checkout, eligibility, availability, and access issuance.

Complete onboarding

Once participation is confirmed, students complete the remaining administrative steps and receive the information needed to enter the SJIT academic environment for the program.

What Should You Prepare?

Prepare what the program asks for—not a fictional universal checklist.

Depending on the offering, an application can request academic information, professional experience, technical background, achievements, motivation, supporting material, or other evidence relevant to the program. Other offerings may require far less because they use Open Admissions.

Rule of thumb

Do not prepare documents simply because another university or another SJIT program requested them. Use the requirements published for the program you are actually pursuing.
